RADFORD, Va.−The Southern Virginia women's soccer team fell to NCAA Division I Radford University 9-0 on Friday night at Memorial Cupp Stadium.

"Radford perennially has a solid women's soccer team at the highest collegiate level," said sixth-year Head Coach Matt Grawrock. "The test of playing a top-quality D-I program can't be duplicated and gives our players the experience that will help with the rest of the season."

Radford University (4-2) took a 6-0 lead before intermission, including a pair of scores by Highlander forward Julie Ruh'e both in the 31st minute.

The Highlanders outshot the Knights 23-1 for the match and eight different Radford players recorded a goal against Southern Virginia.

Sophomore Makenzie Lundquist (Alpine, Utah) and freshman Autumn Bronson (Stanton, Calif.) split time in goal working 45 minutes each for Southern Virginia, making three and two saves respectively.

Women's soccer travels on Monday, Sept. 11, to face USCAA-foe Washington Adventist in search of its first win of the young 2012 season.
