Men's Soccer Completes Season with Loss to Mary Washington

BUENA VISTA, Va.—Hoping to end the season on a positive note, the Southern Virginia University men's soccer team fell to visiting University of Mary Washington  by a 5-0 score Tuesday afternoon at The Fields in Buena Vista, Va.

With the loss, the Knights fall to 1-16-1 for the year while the Eagles improve to12-6.

Tanner Carlton scored twice for Mary Washington while Jacob Keller, Mike Bennett and Lino Gallo also picked up goals in the 5-0 victory. The Eagles' Kevin Murphy, while scoreless, had four shots on goal while Riley Fisher and Jacob Burke each had two shots on goal. The Eagles earned 28 shot attempts during the game with 18 on goal and totaled 17 corner kick opportunities throughout the match.

Southern Virginia senior Kyle Tyree achieved one shot on goal with junior Max Doxey contributing another shot attempt. The Knights earned two shot attempts during the game with one on goal in the loss.

Knight goalie Scott Zaring earned 13 saves in the game.
