BUENA VISTA, Va.—Looking to close out the fall season on a strong note, the Southern Virginia University women's tennis team accomplished the feat by defeating visiting Ferrum College by a 9-0 score Monday afternoon at The Fields.

The doubles tandem of Elizabeth Fuchs and Lindee Christensen got off on the right foot for the Knights by defeating Panthers Rebecca Harbeck and Rachel Belcher, 8-1, before Micah Roberts and Ann Kuroki topped Ferrum's Kelsey Nicely and Ashley Foster, 8-0. Kari Stollenwerk and Ashley Adamson finished off doubles with an 8-3 Knight victory heading into singles competition.

Fuchs and Roberts played well in singles action, defeating Ferrum's Rebecca Harbeck and Kelsey Nicely by respective scores of 6-4, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-3. Christensen beat her opponent, 6-0, 6-2 while sophomore Stollenwere defeated Ferrum's Ashley Foster, 6-1, 6-3. Kuroki and Adamson earned the final team points to lift the Knights to the 9-0  win.

Southern Virginia returns to action on March 5 to take on the Vixens of Sweet Briar College at 4:30 p.m. at The Fields.
