By Wesley Evans

BUENA VISTA, Va.—In its final match of the 2014 season, the Southern Virginia University men's tennis team earned a dominating 8-1 victory over visiting ODAC member Shenandoah University Thursday afternoon at The Fields.

With the season finale win, the Knights finish the season having won five in a row and seven of its final eight matches, which would place the team in fourth place in the Capital Athletic Conference regular season standings.

In doubles competition, the Knights stole all three matches. Freshman towers Cooper Brown and Zac Bowers earned a narrow 9-7 victory at the No. 1 spot, while brothers Adam and Brian Blocher finished off their opponents, 8-6.

Brandon Caputo and Phil Soelberg took care of the No. 3 spot with a decisive 8-0 victory.

Southern Virginia continued its solid performance as it began singles play by taking all but one of the six matches. Pradeep Ravisankar fell in a close match at the No. 1 court, 6-3, 7-5.

Dallin Evans, Brown, B. Blocher and Phillip Fly all defeated their opponents in straight sets to help Southern Virginia secure the victory.

The Knights finish their 2014 campaign with an 11-8 record while the Hornets fall to 3-11.
