Women's Tennis Falls to Virginia-Wise in Neutral Matchup

BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team was swept 9-0 by University of Virginia-Wise during the 2014 fall season opener Friday afternoon at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia.

The Knight freshman duo of Elizabeth Fuchs and Lindee Christensen fell 8-3 against No. 1 doubles partners Bailey Christoforatos and Hayley Thacker of UVA-Wise.

Micah Roberts and Ann Kuroki lost to Dasha Tyschenko and Mary Jo Stallard 8-2. In the No. 3 doubles the Cavaliers' Marti Gay and Serena Burgess defeated Southern Virginia's Kari Stollenwerk and Ashley Adamson, 8-1.

In singles play, Elizabeth Fuchs, Micah Roberts, Lindee Christensen, Kirsten Laurence, Ann Kuroki and Kari Stollenwerk were overcome by their Cavalier opponents.

The Knights look to bounce back from the loss as they take on Randolph College Friday, Oct. 3, at 3:30 pm at The Tennis Courts of Southern Virginia University.
