By Nick Porter

BUENA VISTA, Va. —The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team picked up its first loss of the season against Emory & Henry College on Tuesday evening, falling by a 9-0 score to the visiting Wasps.

No. 1 doubles Dallin Evans and Brian Blocher came the closest to a win, falling 8-6 in their sets. Doubles Brennan Alford and Kjell Henness fell 8-0, while Parker Monson and Aaron Hiatt lost 8-2.

In singles competition, Brian Blocher played the No. 1 position followed by Brennan Alford, Kjell Henness, Parker Monson, Aaron Hiatt, and Jacob Seaburg, who each fell to their opponents in two sets.

"It was a tough loss, but our guys really battled," said Southern Virginia head coach Tony Caputo. "It was tough not having a few of our guys in singles competition due to prior commitments."

The Knights hit the road on Saturday to play in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association D-III South/Southeast Regional competition hosted by Mary Washington University in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
