BUENA VISTA, VA.—The Southern Virginia men's soccer team was defeated 2-0 by conference opponent University of Mary Washington at the Fields on Wednesday.
The Eagles (10-4, 3-2 CAC) attacked the Knights (1-12, 0-4 CAC) early in the contest with shots and corner kicks, but Southern Virginia was strong defensively. In the 35th minute of the first half, the Eagles found the back of the net and went up 1-0. Forty-six seconds later the Eagles scored again to secure the 2-0 victory.
Sophomore Gregg Allen led the offensive attack with two shots. Midfielder Carlos Munoz and forward Josh Smith were the only Knights with shots on goal. In the goal, keeper Kennan Carroll recorded six saves.
The Eagles strong attack resulted in 22 shots and 14 corner kicks compared to the Knight's six shots and 0 corner kicks.
Southern Virginia travels to Middletown, Pennsylvania were they will take on Penn State Harrisburg in their fifth conference game of the season on October 17 at 2 p.m.
