BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia women's basketball team won big over Mary Baldwin College Tuesday night in their 101-62 victory.
"We played well, moved the ball well and shot well," said second-year head coach Heather Roberts, "everyone worked hard and scored. Hopefully this is something we can build on for next week."
The Knights (1-2, 0-1 CAC) had five players with double-digit points and were led by Larissa Macfarlane and Morgan Hartvigsen who each had 19. Macfarlane also led the Knights with nine boards.
Merideth Ouellette, Shelby Winsor, and Jamila Gambee were the others with ten or more points. Ouellette led with six assists while Winsor added seven rebounds. Gambee had seven steals and 10 points from the bench.
The Fighting Squirrels (0-3) scored the first points of the game, but the Knights soon took the lead and never looked back.
Southern Virginia shot 50 percent from the field and hit five 3-pointers.
