BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia women's basketball team suffered a 74-50 conference loss to The University of Mary Washington on Wednesday evening in the Knights Sports Arena.
The Knights (3-12, 2-7 CAC) had a strong start to the contest finishing the first quarter tied at 13 with the Eagles (13-3, 7-2 CAC). Southern Virginia was unable to keep the momentum in the third and fourth quarters.
Sophomore forward Shelby Winsor recorded her second double-double of the season leading the team with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Freshman forward Autumn Cramer added to the attack with nine points and nine boards. Senior forward Larissa Macfarlane chipped in eight points for the Knights.
The Knights shot 31.8% from the field and only 18.2% from beyond the arc compared to the Eagles' 36.2% from the field and 28.6% from the three point line. The Eagles out shot the Knights from the free-throw line 66.7% to 62.5%.
Southern Virginia hosts conference opponent Wesley College on Saturday in the Knights Sports Arena at 1 p.m.
