BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia men's soccer team came up short against York College of Pennsylvania after the Spartans stole a 1-0 overtime victory in the 96th minute.
After 90 minutes full of physical excitement that included 22 shots and impressive defenses, neither team was able to find the back of the net and fought it out for the golden goal in overtime.
The Spartans (5-7-2, 2-3-1 CAC) had 19 shots compared to the Knights' (3-11, 1-5 CAC) three, which all came in the second half of play.
In goal, Keenan Carroll had another impressive game for Southern Virginia with eight saves.
Southern Virginia plays at Marymount University on Wednesday, October 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Arlington, Virginia.
