STAUNTON, Va.—The Southern Virginia women's tennis team earned their first win of the season with a 5-4 victory over Mary Baldwin College on Wednesday afternoon.
"I was especially please with Audrey McBride, Kari Stollenwerk, and Katie Durrant," said head coach Deidra Dryden. "Everyone is working hard and getting better."
McBride, Stollenwerk and Durrant each won in the No. 1-3 singles matches. McBride defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-0, Stollenwerk won 6-2, 6-0, and Durrant swept her opponent 6-0, 6-0.
The Knights (1-3) also earned wins in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Stollenwerk and Durrant, and McBride and Devyn Matley each recorded 8-2 victories.
Southern Virginia heads to Christopher Newport on Saturday for CAC action beginning at 2 p.m.
