BUENA VISTA Va. – The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team's five-match streak was snapped by Hampden-Sidney on Saturday, as the Knights fell 7-2.
The Knights (5-2) started off the day in a 3-0 deficit as all three doubles teams fell to the Tigers (6-1).
In singles, the Knights fought hard despite trailing. No. 1 TJ Snelson came back from a 5-0 deficit before bringing his first set to 5-4. He was then broken, losing the set 6-4 and 6-2. No. 5 Jake Fisher and No. 6 Collin Bigelow also experienced straight set losses; 6-2, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-0 respectively.
No. 2 Tanner Basset won the first set 6-1 before suffering a 6-0 loss in the second set and 6-3 in the third.
The only Knights to win were No. 3 Tyler Clark who defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-3 and No. 4 Zac Bowers who won 6-4 4-6 10-7.
The Knights are slotted to play Randolph-Macon Saturday March 25 at 2 p.m. at The Fields.
