BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team swept Mary Baldwin College Wednesday afternoon, to win 9-0 in its second straight sweep.
Opening the match, the doubles teams were determined to get a head start for the team. All of doubles teams were successful in their matches putting the Knights (2-1) up 3-0.
Singles play was initiated with No. 1 Kari Stollenwerk. Her opponent had a solid ground game in the first but Stollenwerk was able to find her way around her opponent, and won the match by a score of 6-2 6-0. The Knights swept the rest of the singles matches, only losing two games in the process.
Micah Morse, Kelly Worthington, and Anna Bowers each swept their opponents 6-0 6-0.
Action continues Thursday as Southern Virginia hosts Lynchburg College.
