WINCHESTER, Va. – In their third straight victory on the road, the Southern Virginia University men's tennis team defeated Shenandoah 6-3.
Starting off the day, the Knights jumped an early lead with No. 1 Tanner Bassett and Thomas John Snelson dominating their opponents 8-3 and No. 3 Tyler Clark and Weston Snelson edging their opponents 9-7. No. 2 Zachary Bowers and Jake Fisher were narrowly defeated 9-7.
No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 singles all won their respective matches in straight sets. After having dominating the first set No. 1 Tanner Basset was defeated by his opponent in a two-set rally that started in the second, and continued through the match.
The Knights will play their first match of the Capital Athletic Conference tournament April 14 at 3 p.m. against York (Pa.). The Knights previously defeated the Spartans 5-4.
