Hoboken, N.J.—The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team topped Marymount University—the number eight team in the nation—3-1 on Saturday afternoon, after falling 3-0 to No. 3 Stevens.
In game one of the tri-match, the Knights (22-6) matched up with the No. 3 Stevens Ducks (28-4). After falling being 2-0 (25-11 and 25-16) the Knights bounced back with a 25-22 win in the third set, before falling 25-16 in the final game.
Paul Clark recorded 13 kills in the loss, followed by eight from Colby Wilson. Daniel Aina and Kaipo Tagaloa recorded 19 and 17 assists, respectively.
In the final match of the regular season, Southern Virginia recorded its 13th sweep of the season, topping the Saints (19-8) 25-17, 25-21, and 25-22. Clark recorded 19 kills in the win, with a kill percentage of .548.
Tagaloa recorded 32 assists, Mitch Usevitch blocked three Marymount attacks, and Alma Ray chipped in seven kills.
The Knights, in their inaugural season, finish the year with only six losses.
