Women's Tennis Narrowly Defeated by Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – After a grueling battle with Bridgewater College, the Southern Virginia University women's tennis team was ultimately defeated 5-4 for the second straight game.

The No. 1 doubles team, comprised of Elizabeth Fuchs and Rachel Christensen, dominated their opponents, quickly defeating them 8-2. No. 2 and No. 3 doubles both fell to their opponents with scores of 8-4 and 8-2, respectively.

Despite regrouping in the second set, No. 1 Elizabeth Fuchs was unable to come back in time and fell to her opponent 6-1, 6-3.

No. 2 Rachel Christensen and No. 3 Lauren Morrison both flew through their matches, each dropping only three games during their straight-set victories. No. 4 Audrey McBride's 6-2, 6-3 victory gave the Knights a 4-3 lead in the match.

Both No. 5 Natalie Teets Tetterton and No. 6 Makaela Adamson had extremely close matches. Tetterton won the first set 7-6 and fell by a break at the end of the second 7-5. In the third set tiebreaker, Tetterton could not overcome a five-point deficit and lost 10-5. Adamson came back after losing the first set 7-6 to take the second set 6-4 but fell in the tiebreaker 10-1.

The Knights will travel to Salisbury, Maryland on Friday to take on the Seagulls at 5:00 p.m.
