No. 9 Knights Roll Past Wittenberg

HUNTINGDON, Pa. — The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team defeated Wittenberg at the Juniata Invitational Friday night 3-1.

The Tigers (2-3) claimed the first set by the score of 25-22 while hitting .480 with 15 kills.

The Knights (2-0) responded in the second set building a nine-point lead. Southern Virginia finished off the Tigers with a Nahuel Recabarren kill tying the match with the 25-17 set victory.

The third set consisted of back-and-forth action until the 11-10 mark with Southern Virginia leading. The Knights extended their lead going on a 6-2 run making the score 17-12. The Tigers managed to fight their way back into the match tying the game at 17. The Knights with regained composure finished the set winning 25-23.

In the final set, Southern Virginia led for nearly the entire game prevailing 25-21.

Sophomore Nahuel Recabarren led the Knights for the second straight game with 15 kills while hitting .312. Colby Wilson tied a career-high 12 kills, hit .545 with three blocks. Mitch Usevitch led the Knights with four blocks while Danny Aina collected a game-high 11 digs.

The Knights continue to play at the Juniata Invitational Saturday, Jan. 26 at 11:00 a.m. against Daemen.
