Box Score BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia men's soccer team fell short on senior night to conference foe York College Saturday evening by the score of 1-0.
Senior goalkeeper Jacob Solis played one of his best games of the season, recording nine saves on ten shots on goal. The Knights (2-13) got five shots off on goal and had a tremendous defensive effort.
The first half saw back-and-forth action between the two teams. In the 32nd minute of the game, Mcclain Smith got past the Knights defense to put the Spartans (8-5-2) on the board first. Southern Virginia kept York away from the cage long enough to go into halftime trailing by one.
The Knights made a statement in the second half shutting the Spartans out with Solis denying every York (Pa.) opportunity. Southern Virginia was unable to find the back of the net on a late push from Sam Melo after breaking free from the Spartan's defense as the clock hit zero.
The Knights travel to Christoper Newport on Wednesday, the 23rd. The match will begin at 7 pm.
