Men's Soccer Overpowered at No. 24 Mary Washington

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Southern Virginia (2-11) took on the No. 24 team in the nation in University of Mary Washington (8-2-2) Wednesday afternoon and were defeated 0-10. 

Jacob Solis did all he could in the net for the Knights recording nine saves on the night, and goalie James Hampton recorded five saves of his own. Anthony Bowden was able to get a shot off on goal along with Jalen Victory getting a shot off of his own. 

The nationally ranked Eagles showed their variety of weapons on both offense and defense as they withstood the effort by Southern Virginia. Mary Washington was able to have an eight-goal lead going into the second half. 

The Knights' defense came together in the second half as they were able to slow down the Eagle's offense and only allow two goals. 

Southern Virginia will travel to St. Mary's on Friday, Oct. 12 as they will play under the lights at 7 p.m.
