BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team won an in-state non-conference matchup against Bridgewater College 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Knights (7-1) were able to take two of the three doubles points as Morgan Blount and Alyssa Sewell dominated at the No. 3 position with an 8-0 win and Lauren Morrison and Audrey McBride defeated the Eagles (4-3) 8-2 at the No. 2 flight.
In singles, Southern Virginia was able to win four of the six possible points including wins from Freshmen Morgan Blount and Alyssa Sewell who won at No. 5 and No. 6, 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 respectively.
Seniors Lauren Morrison and Rachel Christensen also earned wins for the Knights, both only giving up one game en route to closing out the match for Southern Virginia 6-3.
The Knights return to action to begin conference play on the 22nd of March in a doubleheader against Frostburg State University and St. Mary's College of Maryland. Match times are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
