FREDERICKSBURG, Va.—The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team defeated Frostburg State University 5-0 and St. Mary's College of Maryland 8-1 to open up conference play.
In their first match of the day, the Knights (7-0, 2-0 CAC) went up 3-0 early as they swept all of the doubles points including an 8-1 win at No. 3 by Paul Monson and Aaron Chadwick who made his debut for Southern Virginia.
In singles, Daniel Blonquist and Ben Spencer made quick work of their opponents from Frostburg St. (4-1, 0-1 CAC) 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 clinching the match for the Knights.
Later on in the evening, Southern Virginia was again able to sweep the doubles points over St. Mary's College of Maryland (2-8, 0-1 CAC).
Capital Athletic Conference Men's Player of the Week, Kukutla Motlojoa was the first to finish in singles for the Knights crushing his opponent 6-0, 6-0.
Will Stoddard also had a noteworthy performance for the Knights at the No. 6 spot taking down his opponent in a tough 7-6(4), 6-3 victory.
The Knights will continue CAC action on the 23rd of March at 10 a.m. as they will face the No. 20 University of Mary Washington.
