BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team defeated the Cougars of Averett University on Friday afternoon 6-3 in a non-conference matchup.

The Knights (10-2) won two out of the three doubles points as Rachel Christensen and Lauren Morrison teamed up at the No. 2 flight to win 8-1, and Alyssa Sewell and Morgan Blount won at No. 3, 8-0.

Southern Virginia was then able to win four of the six singles spots including a tough 7-5, 6-4 victory by Rachel Christensen at No. 4. Lauren Morrison and Morgan Blount both took down their opponents from Averett (5-2) 6-2, 6-1, while Alyssa Sewell dominated her match 6-0, 6-0.

The Knights will continue action as they face off against Roanoke College on the 30th of March at 12:00 p.m.
