BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team won their tenth consecutive Continental Volleyball Conference game Friday night, defeating Rutgers-Newark on senior night in four sets 3-1.

The win adds to the program's record season giving them their 20th win of the season, the most in program history. 

The Knights (20-2, 10-0 CVC) never looked back in the first set taking and maintaining the lead to down the Scarlet Raiders (14-9, 6-4 CVC) 25-22.

Southern Virginia continued their strong play into the second set. The Knights put together their best set recording 13 kills and hitting .524 while only committing two errors.

The Scarlet Raiders looked to bounce back in the third set outplaying the Knights to secure the 25-22 win.

The Knights handled business in the fourth set tallying 13 kills and capitalizing on 10 Rutgers-Newark errors to seal the game match with a 25-19 victory.

Southern Virginia hit .289 on the night with Nahuel Recabarren leading the way with a game-high 15 kills and team-high five blocks. Cougar Clark added 11 kills to go along with nine digs while Mark Stapley and Colby Wilson recorded nine and eight kills. Kaipo Tagaloa led with a game-high 38 assists and teammate Danny Aina led the team with a game-high 10 digs.

The Knights play next in the home finale against No. 3 Kean Saturday, March 30 at 1:00 p.m. the winner will sit alone atop the CVC standings.
