BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team fell to Christopher Newport University on Thursday afternoon 8-1 despite Junior Kukutla Motlojoa winning the Knights first ever point against the Captains.
Southern Virginia (10-3) went down 3-0 after doubles with the closest match coming at the No. 1 doubles flight as Paul Monson and Kukutla Motlojoa fell to Christopher Newport (10-7), 8-6.
In singles, Kukutla Motlojoa earned the Knights lone point of the match at the No. 2 position taking down a regionally ranked opponent 6-4, 7-6(5).
The Knights had two other close matches as Ben Spencer lost in a heartbreaker in a third-set super tiebreaker 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 at the No. 4 spot and Monson fell to the No. 7 ranked player in the region 6-3, 7-6(2).
The Knights will hit the road on the 12th of April as they are set to face off against Harford Community College at 2:30 p.m
