BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University women's basketball team extended their winning streak to seven games Saturday afternoon, taking down Methodist in Knight Arena 89-55.

Savanna Christensen: 18 points | five blocks | eight rebounds

Katie Garrish: Double-double | 18 points | 11 rebounds

Game Notes

• The Knights came out hot in the first quarter, putting up 20 first-quarter points
• Emma Camden led the way with seven points and added three rebounds
• Coming off of the bench, Anna Singer added six points while Taylor Miyasaki recorded five points
• Savanna Christensen turned up in the second quarter, tallying 12 points, and three rebounds
• Courtney McKrola got back into action after coming out in the first quarter to tend to a minor injury, adding three points
• The Knights shot 44.4 percent from the field while shooting 50 percent from behind the arc, heading into the halftime break with the 44-21 advantage
• Katie Garrish got things going in the third quarter, recording 11 points with three rebounds
• Anna Singer continued to impress off the bench, adding seven more points
• Southern Virginia continued improving throughout the game, shooting 61.1 percent from the field and hitting all three free throws
• In the fourth quarter, Madison Crunk got into the mix, hitting a three-pointer, while Madisen Staples earned a hard-fought bucket
• The Knights ended the match outshooting the Monarchs 46.7%-33.3% from the field, and 44.4%-20.0% from behind the arc
• Southern Virginia dominated the boards, outrebounding their opposition 41-29, and owned the paint, outscoring Methodist 46-28
• The Knights won the bench battle, outscoring the Monarchs bench 34-19

Southern Virginia will look to keep their winning streak alive, taking on Mary Baldwin on Tuesday, January 18 in Knight Arena. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
