ASHLAND, VA. — The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team split their matches Saturday afternoon, defeating Randolph-Macon 3-1 and falling to Tusculum in three sets 3-0.

Nahuel Recabarren: 15 kills | .303 hitting average | two blocks 

Kaipo Tagaloa: 38 assists | ten digs | two blocks

Nahuel Recabarren: 12 kills | two digs | .222 hitting average

Game Notes

• In the first set, the Knights jumped ahead 11-5, before Randolph-Macon came back 12-9
• Southern Virginia closed out the set with an attacking error from the Yellow Jackets to take the 25-20 set victory 
• Randolph-Macon evened the match up 1-1 with a 25-23 close set win in the second 
• In the third set, both teams were evenly matched, needing overtime to decide the victor of the set
• Nahuel Recabarren put the team ahead 2-1 with a service ace to take the third 28-26
• The Knights wasted no time taking home the first game victory, going ahead 20-12 in the fourth
• Southern Virginia closed the game out with a final kill from McKay Walker 
• In game two, the Knights were unable to overcome their opponent. getting swept by Tusculum in three sets

Southern Virginia hosts Juniata in Knight Arena for the team's home opener on Friday, March 4. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm.
