BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team hosted conference foe Elizabethtown in Knight Arena Friday night, sweeping the Blue Jays 3-0.

Game Notes

• After finding themselves down 4-3 early in the first set, a service error by Elizabethtown sparked a 5-0 run to go up 8-4
• Both teams traded runs and leads the remainder of the set with the Knights setting up set point 24-19
• Kaipo Tagaloa set up Paul Candland for the final kill to take the first set 25-21, taking the 1-0 lead in the match 
• Evenly matched at the beginning of the second, McKay Walker ignited an 11-1 run to jump ahead 15-5 
• Southern Virginia made quick work of the second set, using a final 4-0 run led by two Tanner Durkin kills gave the Knights the 25-13 set win and 2-0 advantage
• Both teams went back and forth the duration of the third set with Southern Virginia holding onto a one-point lead late in the set 21-20
• Two errors and a kill from Kristo Bianchin Puente set up match points 24-20
• Puente put the game away, completing the sweep for the team off of an assist from Kaipo Tagaloa to take the final set 25-21

The Knights travel to Liberty University on Wednesday, March 23, for a midweek game. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm.
