Box Score LEXINGTON, KY. — The Southern Virginia University women's basketball team took on Shenandoah University at Transylvania University Friday night for the first round of the NCAA National Tournament, dominating the Hornets 67-48.

- Nerves were visible in the first quarter of play, with both teams struggling to put the ball in the hoop with the Knights holding onto the 13-10 lead after one
- Coming off of the bench, Anna Singer led all players with five points and one rebound
- Courtney McKrola followed Singer with four points while dishing out two assists
- Southern Virginia's momentum began to rise in the second, extending their lead nine points 29-20
- Emma Camden led all players with eight points and four rebounds

- After the halftime break, the Knights could smell victory near, outscoring the Hornets 21-11 in the third

- Savanna Christensen heated up in the third with seven points, six rebounds, two assists, and one block
- Addison Newman and Savanna Christensen led the way in the fourth quarter with five points apiece, while Katie Garrish recorded four points and two assists locking in the first-round victory
- Southern Virginia ended the game shooting 39.7% from the field and 47.1% from three while dominating the boards 45-37
The Knights turn around quickly, facing off against host Transylvania in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday, March 5. Game time is slated for 6 pm.
