BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team took on Lancaster Bible in Knight Arena Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Chargers 3-0.
Game Notes
- Nahuel Recabarren led the team with ten kills while Paul Candland followed with nine
- Jeffrey Tomlinson recorded a team-high six digs while Kaipo Tagaloa dished out 34 assists
- In the first set, both teams went back and forth before the Knights pulled ahead 15-9
- Southern Virginia pulled away in the first set 25-23 with a final kill from McKay Walker
- The Knights dominated in the second set, going up 20-12 at the end of the set
- The chargers were hopeful of a comeback, using a 5-1 run to come within five points, but a final kill from Wayne Baldwin put Southern Virginia up 2-0 in the match
- The Knights saw the sweep nearby, jumping ahead 15-6 midway through the third set, led by two kills from Christian Sheaffer and Kyler Evans
- Southern Virginia completed the sweep off of a final service error to wrap up the match
The Knights will look to make preparations for the CVC Conference Tournament beginning on Friday, April 8, with their opponent to be determined. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 at Rutgers-Newark.
