BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University men's tennis team captured a conference victory Friday afternoon, taking down Methodist University 5-4.

• Southern Virginia got up to a 2-0 lead following doubles play with Marcos Dias and Benton drake snagging an 8-7 win while Mason Pitcher and Ethan Cambell locked in the 8-2 win
• In singles play, No. 1 Marcos Dias was forced to retire following severe cramping
• Methodist went on to win in courts two through three, but Tanner Bassett earned a victory due to his opponent retiring
• Mason Pitcher and Maro Perez-Urrutia grabbed the final wins to lock in the 5-4 victory

The men's and women's team takes on Averett University on Tuesday, April 19.
