BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University men's soccer program and head coach
Payden Pemberton officially announced the 2022 schedule.
In his second year with the program, head coach
Payden Pemberton will look to continue building his team while making a run at a conference title.
The season commences at home in Knight Stadium on August 24, facing Roanoke College for the fifth time in program history.
The Knights remain home for their following two matchups, taking on Patrick & Henry first on August 27, and Averett on September 1 to kick off USA South Conference play.
Hitting the road for the first time, Southern Virginia travels to Ashland, Virginia to face Randolph-Macon College before coming back home on the seventh to take on Randolph College.
For the next five games of the season, the Knights remain on the road for five non-conference matchups against Ferrum, Shenandoah, Marymount, and Gallaudet, including a showdown with cross-town neighbor VMI for a D1 versus D3 matchup on the 22nd.
Kicking off the month of October with two home games, Southern Virginia takes on Brevard and Greensboro College on the first and fifth, followed by a road game on the eighth in Rocky Mount, NC, to take on North Carolina Wesleyan. All three games will be attempts from the Knights to capture first time victories over the programs.
A quick break from conference play on the road highlights a matchup against Eastern Mennonite on October 12 for a midweek game in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Southern Virginia closes out the regular season with four final conference matchups against Methodist, William Peace, Mary Baldwin, and Pfeiffer, with their games against the Monarchs and Falcons being played in Knight Stadium.
The Knights have sights on making vast improvements from last year, looking to continue building on the newly formed team's identity, while looking to fight for the program's first conference championship.
