Murfreesboro, NC - Southern Virginia University's swimming teams concluded their weekend competition on a high note, securing impressive victories against Chowan University. The women's team triumphed with a score of 116-108, while the men's team claimed a solid win of 129-100.
Notable highlights included the men's team securing victories in six events and the women's team dominating with wins in three events, all contested in short course meters instead of yards.
Head Coach Jennifer Moore expressed her satisfaction, stating, "I'm so proud of this team because they love racing. They show up for each other and give their best. This was a fun meet for us to get competing again after the holiday break. We are not too worried about times right now, especially since the meet was meters instead of yards. Our focus was racing our best and getting back going as we prepare for our last two dual meets and conference coming up Feb 15-17."
Freshman standout Roman Nowell continued to shine, clinching gold in the 50 Butterfly with a finals time of 27.45 and an impressive 100 Butterfly finish at 1:00.92, a mere tenth of a second ahead. Logan Johnson showcased exceptional performances, securing wins in the 400 Free (4:28.22) and the 200 Free (2:04.10).

Jamie Horne led the charge for the women's team, claiming first place in both the 50 Free with a time of 29.01 and the 100 Free with a time of 1:02.69.

Additional standout performances included Charles Hudson's victory in the 50 Free event (24.16), Zachary Rhodenizer's triumph in the 50 Breaststroke event (35.27), and Andie Prince's success in the 200 IM event (2:47.79).
The outstanding performances across the board showcased the Knights' roster depth, elevating them above the Hawks.
Looking ahead, the Knights will return to action against Bridgewater College on Friday, January 19th.
