MISENHEIMER, NC – The Southern Virginia University men's golf team built on their strong start from day one to secure a first-place finish at the Pfeiffer Invitational. Both the A-Team and B-Team delivered impressive performances on the final day, with standout individual efforts propelling them to success.
Nikko Taggart and Nick Johnson led the A-Team, both finishing the tournament even-par and tying for third place overall. Their consistent play across both days was crucial to Southern Virginia's top finish. While Dax Anderson and Charles Price cooled off from their day-one form, they were still key contributors to the team's victory. Anderson finished in 11th place, and Price placed 16th. Kaden Ford had a notable improvement from day one, shooting a +2 (74) on day two to climb 11 spots and finish in 22nd place.
The Knights' B-Team made a remarkable surge on day two, with Caden Bertagnole leading the way. Bertagnole had an outstanding final round, shooting a five-under 67 with seven birdies, catapulting him into first place individually and pushing the B-Team to a third-place finish in the tournament.
Carter Damron also made significant strides, going even-par (72) on day two, climbing 12 spots to finish tied for 13th. Will Agnew matched Damron, also finishing in 13th place, while Sam Buckwalter and Ethan Tippetts maintained solid performances, finishing 28th and 34th, respectively. Mason Schlensker, competing as an individual, wrapped up the event in 58th place.
Looking ahead, Southern Virginia's B and C Teams will host the Knights Invitational in Nellysford, VA, on October 7th-8th, while the A-Team will travel to the Oglethorpe Invitational.
