Southern Virginia Men’s Golf Finishes Second at Hampden-Sydney Invitational

Foxfire, N.C. – The Southern Virginia University men's golf team continued its strong spring campaign with a second-place finish out of 14 teams at the Hampden-Sydney Invitational held at Foxfire.

Nick Johnson led the Knights with a consistent performance across both rounds. He opened the tournament with a 71 (-1) before following it with an even-par 72 on day two, earning a top-five finish. Johnson recorded six birdies during the tournament, securing his second top-five finish of the season.

Nikko Taggart delivered one of the most impressive rounds of the event on day one, firing a 68 (-4) that included six birdies. After a slow start on the front nine in the second round, Taggart finished the tournament at +2 overall to place tied for 13th.

Kaden Ford, competing as an individual, opened with a 71 (-1) that featured an eagle and several birdies. Despite a challenging front nine in the final round, Ford battled back to finish tied for 35th at +7 overall.

Caden Bertagnole recorded an even-par 72 in the opening round but slipped slightly in the second round with a 79 (+7), finishing tied for 32nd overall.

Andrew Huff matched his lowest round as a Knight with a 74 (+2) on day one, highlighted by four birdies and an eagle. Competing as an individual, Huff followed with another solid round to finish the tournament at +8 overall.

Will Agnew finished with rounds of +5 and +8 for a +13 total at the tournament.

Jace Robison continued to show improvement with rounds of +7 and +8, while Sam Buckwalter followed closely with rounds of +9 and +6.

Sam Young made his Knights debut with a +15 total, highlighted by a strong +4 performance in the final round.

Charles Price finished at +17 overall after rounds of +7 and +10, while Jett Oliverson posted scores of +9 and +8. Spencer Norris rounded out the group of individual competitors with rounds of +10 and +12.

Southern Virginia now travels to Orlando, Florida, where the Knights will compete against Whitman College on March 18–19 in a midweek matchup.
