Roanoke, VA - The Southern Virginia University men's and women's swim teams made their way back to Roanoke for their second meet of the season, this time against different competition. The men competed against Hampden-Sydney in a neutral site and came up short of a victory. The women's team faced off with the hosts, Hollins University, defeating them by a score of 180-60. Both teams showed improvement from their season opening meet last weekend, particularly the women who avenged a 2019 loss to Hollins, their only other meeting to date.
Women's Results
The women put together a dominant, all-around performance throughout the meet. After winning the opening medley relay, they swept the 1000 yard freestyle in the first individual event to set the tone. It wouldn't be the first sweep either as the Knights went on to claim the top three spots in six different events. Jamie Horne and Andie Prince eached picked up two individual victories and were joined by Mia Fuhriman, Rylee Nugent, Jesi Fuhriman, Madelynn Fenwick, and Lauren Vestel in the win column.
Men's Results
The Knights earned three individual wins over their opponents and earned a close second in numerous events. Kyle Hedden won the first individual event, the 1000 yard freestyle, by over thirty seconds. Roman Nowell had a terrific meet and won the 200 IM while Ned Hill followed suit by winning the 100 freestyle.
The Knights will be back in the pool next Friday, October 25th, at 5:00 PM when they travel to face Bridgewater College. For the most up-to-date information and details on the team, visit knightathletics.com and follow @knight_swimming on Instagram.
