Rome, Ga. – The Southern Virginia University men's golf team wrapped up their fall season with a strong showing at the Chick-fil-A Invitational at Stonebridge Golf Club, finishing fourth overall after an impressive +6 round on day two.
Leading the way for the Knights was Dax Anderson, who finished as the tournament medalist. Anderson shot an incredible 67 (-5) in the opening round, followed by an even-par round on day two. His performance, featuring 8 birdies over the two days, tied the program's 36-hole record set by Nathan Preslar. Anderson's victory atop the 128-player field marks a standout achievement for Southern Virginia.
Head Coach Blair Garner praised Anderson's performance, saying, "Dax played great, matching his best score with 5-under and 8 birdies. It was a great way to finish the fall season."
The Knights showed significant improvement on day two, climbing the leaderboard thanks to standout performances from both Anderson and his teammates. Nikko Taggart had a remarkable second day, shooting even par to leap 40 spots on the leaderboard and finish tied for 26th. Charles Price was consistent throughout the tournament, carding +3 on day one and +2 on day two, placing 19th overall.
Nick Johnson made program history during the tournament, recording the second hole-in-one in Southern Virginia men's golf history. His ace came on the 4th hole, and despite a challenging first round, Johnson rebounded with a strong +4 on day two, finishing in 105th place. Coach Garner noted, "Nick's hole-in-one was the second ever for our program, and he now leads the program in career eagles, surpassing Coulson Hardy."
Kaden Ford also delivered a solid performance, shooting +7 on day one and +5 on day two to finish tied for 66th.
Reflecting on the overall team performance, Coach Garner said, "The team played great and only missed contention by a couple of bad breaks. It was a great way to finish the fall season."
