Hampden-Sydney, VA – The Southern Virginia Knights concluded the Tiger Invite with a series of strong performances across both singles and doubles play. Day two of the tournament saw the team pick up several key victories, as they continue to sharpen their game ahead of the spring season.
In doubles action, Traejen Kingston and Jacob Feldman put up a valiant fight but ultimately fell just short in a tightly contested 5-7 match. Meanwhile, Dustin Manning and his partner shined, securing third place with a dominant 6-1 win. Chase Rishel and Jared Pitcher also found success, claiming third place in their bracket after a solid 6-2 victory. While Nate Walton and Trent McBride clenched their final doubles match pulling through an amazing 7-5 win.
Turning to singles, Jared showcased resilience, battling through a tough match that ended in a 2-6, 6-4, 4-10 tiebreaker loss. However, he bounced back to win his final match 6-3, 5-2, ending the tournament on a high note. Nate delivered an impressive 6-3, 6-2 win but fell just short in the third-place match, losing a nail-biter 6-4, 5-7, 7-10 in a tiebreaker.
Chase had a standout day, placing third after a pair of hard-fought victories. He won his first match 6-4, 7-5, and then emerged victorious in an all-Knight showdown against Trent, defeating him 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 in a tiebreaker. Jacob continued his dominance, steamrolling his opponent 6-0, 6-2 in one of the most one-sided matches of the day.
Dustin wrapped up the tournament with a strong singles win, taking his match 6-1, 6-1, while Trent secured a strong start by winning his first singles match 6-1, 6-2.
As the Knights return home they are eager to build on their successes and sharpen their skills. The Knights prepare for their next match on Thursday September 19th facing Randolph-Macon.
