Spartanburg, S.C. – The Southern Virginia University men's golf team concluded its 2024–25 season with a strong third-place finish at the USA South Men's Golf Championship, marking the program's best finish at the conference tournament since joining the league.
The Knights finished with a team score of +48, closing out their most successful USA South performance to date at the three-day event held in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Taggart, in his first year with the program, came out blazing with a stellar -3 under par in the opening round. Although he cooled off over the next two days with rounds of +3 and +7, his performance secured him a top-10 finish, tying for 8th place overall.
McCaffrey was a model of consistency across all three rounds, carding scores of 74 (+2), 75 (+3), and 76 (+4). His dependable play earned him a tie for 10th place, rounding out a strong season for the senior.
The freshman standout continued to impress with rounds of 77, 78, and a closing 73, the latter of which included a clutch eagle on the 18th hole. Agnew finished tied for 15th, closing the season with strong momentum.
Both veterans delivered key performances to help Southern Virginia clinch third overall. Johnson bounced back with a final round 75, while Price delivered a crucial final-day 76. Johnson finished 19th, and Price followed closely in 23rd.
The Knights' performance at the USA South Championship solidified a historic season for the program, with their best overall score (+48) and highest finish at the conference tournament since joining the USA South.
