Buena Vista, Va. — Junior utility player Zack Geertsen has been named to the D3baseball.com All-Region Second Team for the second consecutive year, as announced Tuesday by the national outlet. This recognition caps another standout season for the Draper, Utah native, who continues to cement his place among the top Division III baseball players in the country.
Geertsen—who plays a key role both at the plate and on the mound—was honored once again in Region 6, following last year's accolades as Second Team Utility and Region 6 Rookie of the Year.
Building on an already historic freshman campaign, Geertsen elevated his game across the board in 2025. He led the USA South Conference in batting average (.431) and on-base percentage (.516). His 69 hits this season set a new Southern Virginia program record, while his on-base percentage now ranks tied for second all-time in school history.
For his performance, he was also named to the USA South All-Conference First Team as a Designated Hitter/Utility, and to the Second Team as a Starting Pitcher, showcasing his elite versatility.
Geertsen's recognition from D3baseball.com comes as part of a rigorous selection process that considered more than 1,000 nominated players nationwide, with input from staff and contributors to determine three all-region teams per region.
With two All-Region honors in two seasons, Geertsen continues to build an impressive resume and remains one of the key players to watch in Division III baseball.
