Buena Vista, VA - The Virginia Sports Information Director (VaSID) released its selections for the 2025 All-State teams in the college division. Two teams of 16 players were featured, including Southern Virginia University's Zack Geertsen who was named to the second team as a starting pitcher and designated hitter.
Geertsen, last year's All-State Rookie of the Year, followed an impressive freshman campaign with an even better showing in many statistical seasons during 2025. On the mound, he finished with 26 strikeouts in 74 innings pitched and was credited with four wins, tied for most on the team. He also walked just 8 batters over the course of the season, 21 less than last season in nearly twenty more innings pitched.
Offensively, Geertsen was even more impressive as the Knights' designated hitter. He held an on-base percentage of over .500 thanks to his .431 batting average and 23 bases on balls. He led the Knights in hits and finished with 21 multi-hit games during the season.
It's the second time in his two year collegiate career that Geertsen has been featured on an VaSID All-State team, following his appearance on the first team as a utility in 2024.
