Nellysford, Va. – The Southern Virginia University men's golf team returned to the Knights Invitational at Wintergreen Resort's Stoney Creek Golf Course, competing as individuals for the second straight year. The par-72, 6,713-yard layout saw strong performances across the roster as the Knights look to close out day two with momentum.
Leading the way was Nikko Taggart, who finished the opening round at -1 (71) to sit atop the leaderboard. Nick Johnson followed close behind in fourth place with an even-par 72, playing a clean round that kept him in contention. Will Agnew sits in seventh after carding a steady +2 (74), while Charles Price finished day one tied for 14th at +5 (77).
Additional strong performances included Jett Oliverson (+7, 79) in 19th, Coleman Oettli (+8, 80) in 20th, and Caden Huff (+9, 81) along with Sam Buckwalter (+9, 81) tied in 23rd. Andrew Huff (+11, 83) and Spencer Norris (+11, 83) both landed in 31st, with Jace Robison (+13, 85) and Sajidul Islam (+15, 87) following in 34th and 43rd respectively.
Rounding out the Knights' efforts, Kaden Ford (+18, 90) sits in 49th, Ben Daybell (+23, 95) in 54th, and Zac Daybell (+28, 100) in 55th.
With Taggart leading the field and multiple Knights inside the top 20, Southern Virginia looks to carry momentum into day two and close out the fall portion of their schedule on a strong note.
