LEXINGTON, Va - The Southern Virginia University men's and women's swim teams celebrated their seniors during the first and only home meet this season at the Lexington Aquatic Center.
The Knights hosted Roanoke College which turned into a highly competitive meet as the men were defeated by a score of 84-153 and the women tied at 121 in a nail biter.
Men's Results
The men managed four individual wins on the day and were narrowly out touched by the Maroons in the two relays.
Caleb Dixon and Holton Bundy continued their impressive campaigns, each tallying an event victory. Dixon remains king of the backstroke after securing first in the 50 and 100 backstroke. Bundy won the 50 breast for the first time this season in 28.35.
Sam Dearing of the Knights came out on top for the first time this season in his event, out touching his own teammate, McCormick Johnson, for a one-two finish in the 50 fly. Cody Higbee also had a notable swim in the same, registering a season's best of 25.85 seconds.

Women's Results
On the women's side, the Knights were led by their two seniors, Jamie Horne and Lauren Vestel.
Vestel competed in the 200 and 500 free events, finishing in 5th and 6th respectively. Horne made good on her three opportunities in the pool, coming out on top in the 50 and 100 free, as well as the 50 fly to highlight another dominant performance.
Olive King and Kate Black also contributed individual wins to Southern Virginia's spread of points, each of which was crucial for the team result.
Sophia Wells, Emily Lesue, Katherine Holm, and Miranda Parker picked up season bests in their respective events and contributed key points.

Looking Ahead
With just one meet between them and the Independent South Championship, Southern Virginia will get a weekend off before traveling to Lynchburg on Saturday, January 31st.
Events begin at 1:00 PM in the Liberty Natatorium.
