Four Knights Featured On Women’s Basketball All-Conference Teams; Snyder Tabbed USA South Player of the Year

BUENA VISTA, Va. - In the midst of postseason play, the USA South has announced its all-conference and major award recipients for the 2025-2026 women's basketball season.

The Southern Virginia women's basketball team was well-represented, boasting two players on the first team, one on the second, and an honorable mention.

Abigail Snyder made history as the first Knights to be named USA Player of the Year, while Maria Savvun, Anna Kimball, Aysia Foster, and Ruth Kempler also earned recognition.

Snyder has enjoyed the best year of her career, averaging nearly 20 points, over seven rebounds and has posted four games of at least 30 points. She's been named USA South Player of the week six times to highlight one of the most prolific offensive seasons in program history.

She currently sits fourth on the program's all-time scoring list, and is also just the fourth player to shoot over 40% from beyond the arc in a season.

Joining Snyder on the First Team All-USA South is fellow senior Maria Savvun. It's Savvun's first all-conference nod, who most notably has been one of the Knights primary ball handlers through one of the most successful stretches in team history.

After a slow start to the year, Savvun has been on a tear, racking up 70 triples and dishing out over 100 assists which has pushed her to second all-time in career assists at Southern Virginia.

In her first year in Buena Vista, Anna Kimball captured a spot on the USA South Second Team. Kimball dominated the paint, averaging nearly ten rebounds and posted two double-doubles. She was also one of the best defensive players in the conference blocking 36 shots.

For the second consecutive season, Aysia Foster appears as an All-Conference Honorable Mention. The reigning USA South Defensive Player of the Year had another productive season, combining stellar defense with an efficient year from the field. She blocked 27 shots, and is now second all-time at Southern Virginia.

Ruth Kempler, another senior forward, represents the Knights on the USA South All-Sportsmanship team. Despite missing several weeks to injury, Kempler has made a positive impact on and off the floor. She's racked up three double-doubles since her return.
