MEDFORD, Mass. - Fresh off a team championship at the USA South indoor meet, the Southern Virginia University women's track and field team made one final push to qualify athletes for the upcoming national championship meet.

Several individuals attended Tufts Final Qualifier on Saturday, looking to throw down big results in the northeast. 

Bayleigh Redd-Armstrong has carried with her the momentum she gained during an All-Region cross country season onto the track.

In the mile, she ran another personal best and dipped under five minutes for the third time this season. Her performance was enough to secure one of just twenty spots at the upcoming national meet.

Redd-Armstrong has been the premier women's distance runner in the South Region, sitting atop the leaderboard in three different events. She's also the first athlete in school history to qualify for a cross country, indoor, and outdoor national championship.

In the field events, Marin Simons won the high jump for the fourth time this season, clearing 1.68m (5' 6") on her second attempt to re-write her own program record indoors.

The new mark leaves her tied for 15th nationally, punching her ticket as the second Knight to represent Southern Virginia at this year's indoor national championship.

Simons returns to the national stage as an All-American high jumper from the 2025 outdoor season. 

NCAA Division lll Indoor Championship

The championships will take place from Friday, March 13th through Saturday the 14th at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.

Prelims for the women's mile will be contested on Friday at 3:35 PM. The high jump will occur on Saturday at 1:00 PM. Visit ncaa.com for the live broadcast.
