White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's golf team finished second at The Greenbrier Intercollegiate Women's Invitational, highlighted by the top team score on day two and a dominant individual title from Sydney Richards, who shot a 4-under 140.
Richards was the clear winner, finishing 13 strokes ahead of the runner-up. The No. 31-ranked player in the nation came within one stroke of tying her own program record.
She was supported by strong performances from her teammates. C.C. Banz finished tied for third after posting rounds of 77 (+5) and 78 (+6). Addison Branham placed seventh as an individual with rounds of 80 (+8) and 78 (+6), while Quinn Foulger rounded out the top-10, finishing tied for eighth. After an opening round of 85 (+13), Foulger rebounded with a 75 (+3) on day two.
Madi Frisby recorded a consistent performance as an individual, shooting 82-82 to finish tied for 16th. Halle Western placed tied for 35th, while Lexi Leavitt and Rylee Reinbold finished back-to-back in 37th and 39th, respectively. Leavitt shot 95 and 86, while Reinbold posted rounds of 94 and 88.
Bailey Blair, competing as an individual, finished tied for 43rd with a +43 total.
The Knights, who have risen to No. 38 in the national rankings, will now have a break before returning to action at the USA South Women's Golf Championship in Sanford, North Carolina, beginning April 20.
