Buena Vista, Va. – The Southern Virginia University women's golf team opened the spring season competing in two events hosted by Berry College, the Savannah Invitational and the Port City Classic.
The Knights' A-Team competed at the Savannah Invitational, facing one of the strongest fields in the country and finishing 18th overall against several of the nation's top programs.
Sydney Richards led Southern Virginia with an impressive final-round surge. After shooting +6 on day one, Richards fired a 72 (-1) on the par-73 course in the final round, jumping 28 spots in the standings to finish tied for 28th overall with a +5 tournament total.
Halle Western posted steady rounds in both days of competition, finishing with scores of +8 and +7 to place 72nd overall.
CC Banz showed resilience throughout the tournament. Despite challenging starts on the front nine in both rounds, Banz finished +16 overall to place 78th. She highlighted her final round with a strong back nine, shooting just +2 to close the tournament.
Quinn Foulger opened the event with a +7 (80) before finishing with a +11 in the final round to place 82nd overall.
Addison Branham began the tournament with a solid front nine on day one, sitting at +3 before finishing the round at +9. She ultimately placed 95th with a +24 total.
Southern Virginia's B-Team competed at the Port City Classic and finished ninth out of 16 teams. The Knights were led by Lexi Leavitt, who posted consistent rounds of +15 and +12 to finish 28th overall.
Madi Frisby followed with rounds of 84 (+13) and 87 (+16) to finish 30th. Tehya Geake placed 36th with a +31 total, while Rylee Reinbold finished 64th at +42. Bailey Blair rounded out the lineup with a 73rd-place finish at +46.
Southern Virginia now turns its attention to the Marlins Invitational at Cypress Point Country Club, scheduled for March 16–17, as the Knights continue their spring campaign.
