LYNCHBURG, Va. - Under a week after the conclusion of the USA South outdoor championship meet, the Southern Virginia University men's and women's track and field teams were back on the track at Lynchburg's Hill City Twilight.

Marin Simons and Mikki Prows continued to post competitive marks in the women's high jump, finishing one-two in the event. Currently, Simons sits just one spot shy of qualifying for the national championships three weeks from now.

On the track, Sasha Braddy completed a huge breakthrough in the 5K. The junior's time of 17:48.75 marks the first time she's dipped under 18 minutes. Braddy finished the race in 8th.

In the 1,500m, Emma Hillam and Bayleigh Redd-Armstrong each recorded personal bests. Hillam ran two seconds faster than her runner-up performance at the conference meet last week, crossing the line in 4:44.49 which remains the third fastest for the event in program history.

Redd-Armstrong seems to raise the bar each time she steps on the track. She delivered another massive program record in the event with a time of 4:31.36, placing her top twenty nationally in Division lll.

As the rankings currently stand, she's in the qualifying position for two events, the 1,500 and 5K. Athletes must be inside the top 22 in their respective events to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Division lll Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin, beginning on May 21st.

Next, the Knights will compete at the Liberty Twilight on Wednesday, May 6th in Lynchburg, Virginia. Events begin at 11:30 AM.
