BUENA VISTA, Va. - Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Kyle Chandler has announced key adjustments to the Southern Virginia University Track & Field staff ahead of the 2026-2027 academic year. Jeramie Murray, an Assistant Track & Field Coach of the last four years, has been promoted to Associate Head Track & Field Coach.

The program has flourished since Murray's arrival. Collectively, the men and women have won 13 team conference championships and sent at least one individual to an NCAA Championship meet each year. He also played a key role in Marin Simons' success in the high jump as she became the first student-athlete in program history to achieve First Team All-American status.

"Coach Murray has had a positive impact not only in helping student-athletes achieve lifetime bests, but he's helped guide them in becoming better persons," said Chandler.

Since his arrival, student-athletes under his guidance have won nearly 30 individual conference championships, broken 29 program records, earned 16 All-Region awards, and turned in four All-American performances.

Chandler further commended Murray's work behind-the-scenes. "He's been an integral part in both the visible high-quality coaching of student-athletes in addition to his behind-the-scenes recruiting and administrative organizational skills. This is strong evidence in a well-deserved promotion."

The women's track and field team is undefeated at the conference level with Murray on the staff, while the men have won five of eight team championships in the same span. Their indoor season will begin early December.
