Box Score 1 LYNCHBURG, Va. After a solid week, the Southern Virginia
volleyball team was able to cap off the week with a 1-1 record at
the Lynchburg Tri-Match. In game one of the tri-match for the
Knights, the visitors squared off with the hosts. Facing Lynchburg,
SVU could not continue the winning ways of the week, as they fell
0-3 to LC. Bryndy
Anderson and Brynn
McGinn led the way for the Knights as they both recorded
6-kills apiece.
Constantly on defense, the Knights recoded 47-digs for the
match, and also tacked on 12-blocks. Ali Krebs
paced the team with 14-digs, but the visitors were playing too much
defense, and the hornets took advantage of it, as they never let
SVU up for points to keep in the match. The loss pushed SVU to a
4-8 record.
A quick turn around was needed, as the team had to face off
against Rutgers-Camden, in the final match of the day. SVU was able
to steal momentum early as they recorded a 25-14 win. McGinn
dominated for the Knights by recording 6-kills in the set, while
finishing with 12-kills for the match. Nicole
Gwynn was putting the Knights' hitters in to strong positions,
and finished with 35-assists for the four sets.
Rutgers-Camden got back in the match with a 25-22 win, but SVU
slammed the door in the final two sets for the win. Southern
Virginia knocked out two wins, 25-17 & 25-14. The team ended
with 35-kills, and a .315 hitting percentage.
The win pushed the Kights to a 5-8 record on the season. SVU
will be back in action Sep. 21 when they host Hollins. The game
will start at 6:30 pm, in Knight Arena.
