BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team moved 3-1 at home this season after defeating NCAA Division III Meredith College Wednesday evening in four games.

Southern Virginia (10-6) took Game 1 from Meredith (13-8) 25-20, but the Avenging Angles rebounded in Game 2 defeating the Knights 25-19 to tie the match at one game apiece. 

The third game was the closest of the match with Southern Virginia pulling out a 26-24 victory. After going up 2-1 over Meredith, the Knights cruised to a 15-point (25-10) win in Game 4, avoiding a fifth game for the first time in four matches.

Senior Brynn McGinn (Bedford, Ind.) led the Knights with 17 kills to go along with 16 digs. Junior Bryndy Christensen (Idaho Falls, Idaho) also contributed 12 kills in the victory.

After being named USCAA Setter of the Week on Monday, junior Nicole Gwynn (Hamilton, Mont.) led the Knights in assists—as she has in all 16 matches this season—with 37, while also tallying 16 digs. 

Shyanne Ison (Mt. Pleasant, Utah) had a team-high 24 digs against Meredith and sophomore Tori Tuttle (Kauai, Hawaii) was an imposing force at the net with three solo blocks and four block assists.

Women's volleyball is approaching a busy weekend schedule as the Knights will play four matches—two on Friday, Sept. 7 and two on Saturday, Sept. 8—against NCAA Division III competitionat Roanoke College's Maroon Classic.
